Other Backward Class (OBC) Cell

The OBC Reservation Cell is constituted in college to ensure the special interest of reserved category students and to provide support in areas where the students experience difficulties. The committee will look after the disputes (if any) or violations of the rights of OBC students, faculties, and staff of HEI. OBC cells play a critical role in promoting the welfare and empowerment of Other Backward Class students. Through comprehensive support systems, awareness programs, and policy implementation, these cells work towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society. Addressing the challenges and strengthening the efforts of OBC cells can significantly enhance their effectiveness and contribute to the overall development of OBC communities.

Aim and Objectives

  • To provide a platform for addressing complaints and issues related to discrimination and difficulties among OBC individuals.
  • To offer various forms of support, including application of cast certificate, educational assistance, scholarships, career counseling, and skill development programs.
  • To get initiatives in opportunities and empower OBC individuals to achieve their full potential.
  • To conduct awareness campaigns and programs for OBC students to educate the broader community about the rights and issues faced by reserve category members.
  • To ensure the effective implementation of government policies and schemes designed for the welfare of OBC communities.
  • Regular monitoring of the progress and impact of various initiatives is crucial. OBC cells are tasked with collecting data, evaluating programs, and reporting findings to higher authorities.

The Nature of Activities of the Cell

  • OBC cells facilitate access to scholarships and financial aid programs, enabling students from these communities to pursue higher education without financial barriers.
  • Awareness and training sessions are organized to enhance employability skills and provide career guidance. This includes personality development, resume writing, interview preparation, and soft skills training.
  • Counselling services and Legal assistance are provided to OBC members facing discrimination or any difficulties for support mental and emotional well-being.
  • OBC cells engage with local community experts and BARTI, SARTHI, and TRTI to promote education, health, and social welfare. Outreach programs help in building trust and collaboration with the communities they serve.
